Field Hockey Delivers Second Straight Shutout

Pride continues home unbeaten streak with 6-0 rout of Gwynedd Mercy

CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University field hockey team remains undefeated at home this season after taking down Gwynedd Mercy by a score of 6-0 on Wednesday night.
 
The win marks the Pride's second straight shutout and fifth clean sheet overall this season as it advances to 7-2 on the year.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Madi Radnoff led the way for the Blue and Gold offense with five points on two goals and an assist. With the performance, she moved to sixth all time for Widener in career goals (27) as well as sixth all time in career points (67). Her 10 goals this season leads the MAC Commonwealth while her three assists are tied for second.
  • Margaret Howe-Consiglio also added two scores as she notched her first multi-goal game of the year. Her second goal came early in the third period and kicked off a stretch of three scores in two minutes for the Pride as it quickly grabbed a 5-0 advantage. First year Maddie Hoyer notched her first career assist on the score.
  • Erin Callahan played the role of facilitator, connecting on a pair of assists on the game's opening two goals and adding a score herself for four points on the night. Callahan's four assists so far this fall are tied for a conference lead.
  • Jesse Schlosser picked up her fourth goal of the season in the 58th minute to make the final tally 6-0.
  • WU's offense continued to dominate, out shooting the Griffins 23-2 while the defense held its opponent to zero attempts on goal for the second straight game. WU also held a 10-0 edge in penalty corners.

Widener plays its final non-conference home game against Neumann University on Saturday, October 2 at Dixon Field. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
