Women's Soccer Extends Win Streak To Three Against Lycoming

Pride has shut out opponent in every win this season

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Widener University women's soccer team advanced to 5-2-0 with a 1-0 road win over Lycoming College on Sunday afternoon. The win represents Widener's fifth shutout victory in seven matches as the Pride has held its opponent scoreless in every one of its wins so far this season.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • First year Madison Forte netted her first career goal for the Pride. Forte was awarded a free kick in the 52nd minute after a Warriors yellow card and fired in the match's lone score from the top of the penalty box.
  • Forte became the fourth first year player to score a goal for the Blue and Gold this season, joining Alyssa Carman, Maura Graves, and Morgan Hart.
  • Goalkeeper Samantha Coon delivered her third shutout performance in net, coming up with two saves on the afternoon.
  • The WU offense held a commanding 24-7 shot advantage over Lycoming while the Widener defense held the Warriors to just two attempts on goal all day.
 
UP NEXT
Widener plays its final non-conference game at Quick Stadium against the Saints of Marymount University on Wednesday, September 29. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
