ASTON, Pa. – The Widener University men's soccer team scored three goals in 20 minutes as it downed Neumann University 3-1 on Wednesday night in its final non-conference road game of the season. With the win, the Pride advances at 3-4-0 with two more games remaining in non-conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue and Gold wasted no time finding the back of the net. Senior Nick Brison picked up his first goal of the year off a pass from Sean Fatiga in the match's fourth minute to give WU an early 1-0 lead.
- Peter O'Connor was the next to record his first score of the season just five minutes later, again off a pass from Fatiga.
- Brison tacked on another goal in the 20th minute to make the tally 3-0. Wildan Bondea provided the assist – his first helper in a blue and gold uniform.
- Midway through the first half, a Widener foul led to a Knights penalty kick and Marlon Trejo beat the WU keeper to cut the Pride's lead to two.
- After scoring a combined four goals in the first 24 minutes, neither side would score again as the Widener defense protected that lead for the next 64 minutes en route to a 3-1 victory.
- Widener held Neumann to just three shots on goal all night while goalkeeper Ryan Van Pelt delivered two saves.
