Carter Tran led a powerful offensive attack as the Widener University men's volleyball team continued its hot streak with a sweep of a doubleheader at Wilkes on Saturday.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Tran led all players for the Pride on the day with 24 kills. He also totaled 18 digs and two blocks.
- Matt Blaum had 15 kills, 33 digs, and four aces in the twinbill.
- Ethan Cox posted 12 kills, four aces, nine blocks, and hit .308.
- Josh Matchett delivered 55 assists.

MATCH ONE NOTES (25-13, 25-16, 25-15)
- Tran topped the team with 10 kills and hit .304. He added defensive support with seven digs.
- Blaum had seven kills, hit .375 and posted a career-high 17 digs.
- Matchett was the primary facilitator with 26 assists, adding six kills against just one error in 10 swings.
- Dylan Beer and Cox each had four blocks. Beer added 10 digs.
- As a team, Widener hit .333 for the match and was never seriously challenged in any of the three sets.

MATCH TWO NOTES (25-13, 22-25, 26-28, 25-18, 15-12)
- Tran once again led the team in kills, this time with 14. He also had 11 digs for his first career double-double.
- Beer recorded 10 kills and hit .348.
- Matchett had his second double-double of the season with 29 assists and 11 digs.
- Blaum and Matt Lambert led the Pride with 16 digs each.
- Widener hit a blistering .571 in a first set romp. The second and third sets were tight, but Wilkes came away with both, winning the third in extra points, taking a 2-1 lead in the match.
- Undaunted, the Blue and Gold used a 6-0 run midway through the fourth set to go up 13-10. The Pride never trailed the rest of the way, winning six of the final seven points to close the frame and set up a deciding game.
- In the fifth, Widener found itself down 11-9. From there, the first year trio of Tran, Cox, and Nick Poulson took over. The triumvirate accounted for all six of the remaining points; one on a kill by Cox, two on successful swings by Poulson, a combined block from Cox and Poulson, and two kills and a service ace from Tran with the ace finishing the match.
