ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Widener University men's basketball team fell 66-65 in a close match to the conference leading Lebanon Valley Dutchmen on Thursday evening.
GAME NOTES
- Steven Matlack posted his first career double-double, netting 11 points and pulling in 13 boards. He also recorded a block and a steal.
- For the second straight game, Jared Peters led the Pride in scoring with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
- Kolbey Woodard tallied 10 points and tied a team-high four assists. He also recorded five rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pride started the match hot, taking an early 14-8 lead capped by off by a three-pointer from
Jared Peters. However, the Dutchmen stayed on Widener's heels, slashing the lead to just three entering halftime.
In a game that saw 13 lead changes, both teams spent the first 10 minutes of the second going back and forth. The Pride regained a nine point advantage with 6:01 to play, but Lebanon Valley made a late surge to cut the lead to two at the 13 second mark. An ensuing Widener foul and three made free throws by Lebanon Valley put the Dutchmen ahead as they closed out the game.

The Pride returns home to the Schwartz Center to play Lebanon Valley in the second leg of the back-to-back on Friday, February 26. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
