CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener men's basketball team had four players in double figures, but it could not top Eastern on Wednesday night after dropping an 89-82 contest to the Eagles at Schwartz Athletic Center.
With the loss. the Pride fall to 4-4 overall and 0-3 in MAC Commonwealth play. The Pride have now lost their last three games in a row following a 4-1 start.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST EASTERN
- Matt Daulerio, Pat Holden, Kolbey Woodard and Luke Mazur each scored in double figures for the Pride. Daulerio led the team with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting (70 percent), while Holden had 14 and Woodard and Mazur both chipped in 10 apiece.
- The Pride battled back and forth with the Eagles for roughly the first nine minutes of the first half, as they held a 23-19 lead with 11:05 remaining. However, the Eagles went on runs of 14-3 and 13-5 to take a 46-37 lead at the break.
- In the second half, the Pride managed to cut the Eagles' lead to 50-45 with 16:42 remaining, but the Eagles went on a 21-8 run to put them up by 18 points.
- The Pride managed to get the deficit down to six with 2:08 left after putting together a 22-10 run. Mazur led the run with seven points, while Daulerio had five.
- However, the Eagles made all eight of their free-throw attempts in the final two minutes to earn the victory.
