Men’s Basketball Beats York, Earns First MAC Commonwealth Win

Pride’s starting five all score in double figures to help team snap four-game losing streak

CHESTER, Pa. – Matt DaulerioPat Holden, Jared Peters, Kenny Lewis, and Kolbey Woodard each scored in double figures while leading the Widener men's basketball team to an 82-74 victory over York on at Schwartz Athletic Center for its first MAC Commonwealth win of the season. 
 
The victory allowed the Pride improve to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in MAC Commonwealth play. The win also snapped the Blue and Gold's four-game losing streak. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST YORK 
  • The Pride's starting five had one of its best games of the season so far. Daulerio led the charge with 19 points, while Holden had 18, Peters put in 14, Lewis added 12 and Woodard chipped in 10, respectively.  
  • The Pride jumped out to a 28-9 lead with 11:25 remaining in the first half and wound up taking a 41-33 lead into halftime. Daulerio paced the Pride in the half, scoring 10 points, eight of which came during the 28-9 run.  
  • In the second half, the Spartans managed to tie the Pride at 57 with 9:08 left, but the Pride went on a 15-5 run over the next four and a half minutes to take the lead and fend off the visitors. Holden and Lewis led the charge in the second half, both pouring in 12 points apiece.  
  • Daulerio also posted his second double-double of his career, as he added 11 rebounds to go with his 19 points. 
  • Holden and Peters each had a team-high four steals.
  • The Pride took advantage of the Spartans' 25 turnovers, scoring 30 points off them.  
  • Widener also dominated York in the paint, outscoring the Spartans, 56-38, in that area of the floor.  
UP NEXT 
The Pride will head to Hackettstown, N.J. on Saturday to take on Centenary in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
