FREDERICK, Md. – Charlotte Stern scored 22 points and the Widener women's basketball team posted a 69-62 win over Hood on Saturday afternoon for its first MAC Commonwealth victory of the season.
 
The win put the Pride at 5-3 on the year and 1-1 in MAC Commonwealth play. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST HOOD

• Stern propelled the Pride to victory, scoring eight of her 22 points in the fourth quarter. With the game tied at 56 with 4:46 left, Stern sparked a 13-6 run to end the game by scoring six points during that stretch. 
• Stern finished the game shooting 9-for-16 from the field and helped the Pride dominate in the paint, scoring 16 of the team's 30 points in that area.
• Mary McFillin, Jordan D'Ambrosio and Erin Phelan each scored in double figures for the Pride in the win. McFillin put in 11 points, while D'Ambrosio and Phelan chipped in 10 apiece.
• Brooke Bachtle paced the Blue and Gold on the glass, grabbing nine rebounds.
• Nicole Barnes topped the Pride in assists, handing out five.
• The Blue and Gold also took advantage of Hood's mistakes, scoring 19 points off its turnovers. 
• Widener also played at a speedy pace, outscoring the Blazers, 21-9, on fast break points.
