SWARTHMORE, Pa. –
Kenny Lewis posted a double-double and the Widener men's basketball team relied on balanced scoring to upend No. 8 Swarthmore, 77-66, on Saturday afternoon on the road.
The win pushed the Pride's record to 3-1 on the season and gave them their third victory in a row. The Pride also handed the Garnet (3-1), which was ranked No. 8 in the D3hoops.com poll, their first loss on the young season.

Chris Carideo said. "Our upperclassmen really led the charge, but everyone contributed to this win. The previous two days of preparation by my coaching staff and the players was tremendous. Their hard work showed out there today. The team really appreciated having so many parents, alumni and friends in attendance as well."
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST SWARTHMORE
- The Pride received a big-time performance from Lewis, who led the Pride with 13 points and 10 rebounds in 22 minutes of action. The Baltimore native also posted his seventh career double-double for the Pride and second consecutive double-double after having one in the Pride's win over Misericordia on Wednesday.
- The Pride had five players in double figures in scoring. Along with Lewis, Pat Holden, Jared Peters and Kolbey Woodard each had 12 points while Matt Daulerio added 10 in the victory.
- The Pride rallied from two deficits in the first half to take a 41-38 lead into halftime. Down by as many as seven points, the Pride took a 30-24 lead with 9:09 remaining after going on a 23-10 run. Then after Swarthmore went back ahead 33-30 by going on a 9-0 run, the Pride closed the half with an 11-5 run, with Lewis breaking the tie at 38 on a layup and making a free throw with five seconds left.
- In the second half, the Pride led from start to finish. After battling back and forth for the first eight minutes, the Pride went on a 19-9 run over the next 10 minutes to take a 74-60 lead with 1:23 left and secure the victory. Lewis and Woodard had six points apiece during the run, while Kevin Schenk had five of his eight total points during that span.
- The Pride defense stepped up in the second half, as they held the Garnet to 21.8 percent shooting (7-of-32) from the field.
- The Pride dominated the Garnet when it came to points in the paint, outscoring them, 34-8.
- The Pride also took advantage of the Garnet's 18 turnovers, as they scored 20 points off them.
- In addition, the Pride's bench also had a great night, outscoring Swarthmore's bench, 24-16.

The Pride will return to Chester next Saturday to host Farmingdale State in another non-conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
