GLASSBORO, N.J. - Despite 17 points from senior
Nicole Barnes, the Widener University women's basketball team was dealt its first setback of the season, falling 82-72 to the Rowan Profs on the road Wednesday night.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Barnes's 17 points represented the second highest scoring output of her career. She also pulled in eight rebounds and came away with a season best six steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams opened the high scoring affair exchanging baskets. Three straight buckets in a one-minute period allowed the Pride to quickly jump to an 18-12 lead, but an 8-2 run by the Profs to end the quarter locked the score up at 20. The Pride dominated the second frame, going 5-of-12 from deep and holding Rowan to just 2-of-12 from the field as it took a 16-point advantage into halftime.
The Profs responded out of the break and clawed their way back with five unanswered baskets to come within striking distance by the quarter's midpoint. A pair of layups to end the third put Rowan up 57-54 going into the final period. WU's shooting struggles continued in the fourth while the Profs built off its third quarter momentum, shooting 53 percent from the field and going 3-of-4 from deep as it began to pull away and eventually cement the final tally.
