Men’s Basketball Tops Misericordia in OT

Holden pours in 27 as Pride pull out victory

DALLAS, Pa. – Pat Holden scored 27 points and the Widener men's basketball team pulled out a 94-88 win over Misericordia on Wednesday night on the road.

The win put the Pride at 2-1 on the season and gave them their second victory in a row.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MISERICORDIA

  • The Pride received a big-time performance from Holden, who scored 12 of his 27 points in overtime after Misericordia rallied in the second half to tie the game at 77. Holden made all of his points in the extra session on free throws, with 10 of his free throws coming in the final 2:50 of the period that gave the Pride the lead for good.

  • Holden finished a perfect 15-for-15 from the free-throw line. The Cape May, N.J., native's 15 makes and attempts were career highs and it marked the first time he went perfect at the line while shooting a minimum of 10 foul shots.

  • The Pride defense stepped up in the OT period, yielding only six points in the final 2:50 of the period.

  • The Pride received double figures in scoring from Jared Peters (18), Matt Daulerio (14), and Kenny Lewis (10). Lewis also posted his sixth career double-double after leading the Pride with 14 rebounds to go with his 10 points.
  • Kevin Schenk led the Pride in assists with six and Kolbey Woodard topped the team in blocks with three.
