CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener University men's soccer team received a first-half goal from
Kevin Witkoski, but it was not enough to take down Lebanon Valley on Tuesday night as the Pride dropped a 4-1 match to the Flying Dutchmen in MAC Commonwealth play at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.
The Pride (4-6, 0-2) gave up two goals to the Flying Dutchmen (9-1, 2-0) in the first 12 minutes of the game off two corner kicks. Then, in the 31st minute, Witkoski put the Pride on the scoreboard after rebounding a shot from Michael Donaghy to cut the deficit to 2-1.
However, Lebanon Valley added a goal in the 37th minute to make it a 3-1 score at halftime.
In the second half, the Pride outshot the Flying Dutchmen, 9-4, but could not find the back of the net whereas Lebanon Valley added its final goal in the 64th minute. The Blue and Gold outshot Lebanon Valley, 15-9, for the game.
Sean Fatiga led the Pride with five shots.
