Men's Soccer Battles Eastern In Final Regular Season Road Match

Pride comes back from 2-0 deficit, but falls 3-2

CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University men's soccer team came back from down 2-0 against Eastern on Wednesday afternoon, but were ultimately dealt a 3-2 setback after a late Eagles score.

After being out shot by EU 10-3 and allowing two goals in the first half, the Pride came into the second half hot. Senior Nick Brison scored WU's first goal (his fifth of the season) in the 58th minute off a feed from Monsif Atify to cut Eastern's lead in half.

12 minutes later, Noah Saba evened up the tally with his second score of the year. However, the Eagles responded and a shot from EU forward Emmannuel Hewitt in the 80th minute gave Eastern the advantage back. The Eagles would hold onto that lead as time expired to claim the 3-2 victory.

Senior Vinnie Nocito got the start in net, coming up with three saves on the afternoon.

Widener returns to action on Saturday, October 30 when it is set to honor its seniors before facing York College of Pennsylvania in its final regular season match. Kick-off from Quick Stadium is slated for 6 p.m.
