RADNOR, Pa. - The Widener University women's volleyball team earned a 3-2 win over Cabrini and dropped a match against Washington and Lee on Saturday at Cabrini University.
The Pride topped the Cavaliers, 25-20, 20-25, 26-28, 25-17, 16-14, but fell to Washington and Lee, 25-22, 25-17, 25-12.
With the split, the Pride are 18-8 overall on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST CABRINI
- Trailing, 2-1, in the match, the Pride forced a fifth set after overcoming a 7-4 deficit by going on a 21-10 run to end the fourth set.
- In the tiebreaking set, the Pride came back from a 9-3 deficit by going on a 13-5 run to end the match. Shannon Toomey led the way for Widener during its run, tallying four kills.
- The Pride posted 57 kills in the come-from-behind victory, good for their second-most kills in a match this season. Lilyanna Martucci led the Pride with 12 kills, while Toomey had 11 in the win.
- Megan Barthol handed out 20 assists for the Blue and Gold. Sydney Nicholas had double figures in assists as well, dishing out 13.
- The Pride received great defensive production, as they made a season-high 96 digs in the match. Madeline Dutterer led the way with a career-high 35 digs, Shelby Motz followed with 12 and Martucci had 10 in the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST WASHINGTON AND LEE
- The Pride tallied 28 kills in the defeat. Alnisha Saintilus led the team with six.
- Barthol dished out 13 assists for the Pride.
- Dutterer stood out for the Pride on defense, making 16 digs.
