CHESTER, Pa. - Sophomore
Sean Fatiga set the new single-season goals record after scoring his 14th and 15th goals of the year while leading the Widener men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Albright on Tuesday night in a MAC Commonwealth match at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.
Fatiga came into the game needing two goals to break Tori Remondelli's mark of 14, which was set back in 2014. The Woolwich, N.J. native tied the record in the first half after scoring in the 30th minute off a pass from
Stefano Turano to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Fatiga etched his name into the record book in the 69th minute by scoring off another pass from Turano on a corner kick to give the Pride a 2-0 lead.
With his two goals Tuesday, Fatiga tied the school record for most points in a single season with 32. He joined Remondelli, who had 32 points back in 2014 as well.
Michael Donaghy put the exclamation point on the victory for the Blue and Gold by adding a goal on a penalty kick in the 78th minute.
With the victory, the Pride improved to 7-7 on the year and 2-3 in MAC Commonwealth play. The Pride also produced their fifth shutout of the season.
