ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Widener University field hockey team battled Lebanon Valley College in a conference road matchup on Wednesday night, but ultimately fell to the Flying Dutchmen by a final score of 2-1.
After a scoreless opening period, LVC struck first two minutes into the second. The Pride made sure that lead was short lived, however, finding the back of the cage just six minutes later as junior
Bryn Marcavage poked in a rebound for her third goal of the season.
Both defenses held tough through much of the second half, allowing just four shots between the two sides. WU goalie
Kylie Haberstroh finished the evening with three saves.
With 54 seconds remaining in regulation, the Dutchmen ended the deadlock, scoring the game-winning goal and dealing the Pride its second conference setback of the season.
Widener returns to action when it hosts Alvernia University for Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, October 16. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
