GAME NOTES
- Senior and last week's MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week Erin Callahan added two goals in the match. The performance marked her second multi-goal outing of the season.
- Margaret Howe-Consiglio also tacked on two scores as she too notched her second multi-goal game of the year.
- First year Maddie Hoyer tallied her second career goal in a blue and gold uniform.
- Seniors Madi Radnoff and Sophia-Marie Foglio each dished one assist a piece.
- Pride goalkeeper Kylie Haberstroh came up with two second half saves.
- WU held a 20-8 advantage in shots and put 14 of those attempts on cage. Widener has out-shot its opponents by a combined 165-37 margin this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Howe-Consiglio struck first for the Pride near the end of the first period, intercepting a pass by a Mustangs defender just outside the circle and rifling it past the goalie.
- Howe-Consiglio extended that lead with her second goal two minutes into the second period, winning a scrum in front of the cage and knocking the ball in to make the tally 2-0.
- Midway through the period, Radnoff intercepted a Stevenson attempt to clear the ball out of its zone. She advanced it a few yards and made a pass to Callahan who fired it into the bottom left of the cage to give Widener a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
- Just like Howe-Consiglio, Callahan picked her second straight goal at the start of the next period, taking a shot from near the end line that snuck into the far side of the cage.
- Schlosser added the fifth and final Widener score on an open goal shot after catching Stevenson's goalie out of position.
- The Mustangs managed to add two goals in the final 20 minutes, but it was too little too late as the Blue and Gold went on to secure the 5-2 victory.
