HOW IT HAPPENED
Widener never trailed in the contest, scoring the first basket of the game on a lefty layup by Schenk 14 seconds in. The Pride led 11-2 less than four minutes into the game. Despite some struggles at the free throw line in the opening frame, the defense held strong for the Pride, which was able to maintain a 14-7 edge at the end of the first. A back-and-forth second ensued with the Blue and Gold pushing the lead to as many as 12 before a late Knights' run cut the gap to 28-20 at halftime.
Starting the third quarter Arcadia made an early push, but the Pride fought back, using a 6-2 spurt to end the frame, taking a 45-37 lead into the final 10 minutes. The defense shined for Widener in that fourth period, coming up with four blocks and holding the Knights to 2-for-15 shooting on its way to securing the victory.
