READING, Pa. – Erin Phelan and Devan Rimmer led four players in double figures with 18 points apiece, but the Widener University women's basketball team was upended by the No. 24/10 Albright Lions 83-72 in a MAC Commonwealth game on Wednesday night.
 
GAME NOTES

• In addition to her point total, Phelan also grabbed six rebounds.
• Kyra Schenk had her third double double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds, seven of the boards coming on the offensive end.
• Jasmine Franklin tossed in a career-best 10 points.
• Helena Salmon dropped a trio of treys off the bench, accounting for nine.
• Madison Ireland had seven rebounds and seven assists.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED
A rough shooting start for the Pride allowed the Lions to jump up by 10 early in the first quarter. Widener battled back, scoring 11 of the final 17 points in the frame, pulling the gap to 19-13 after 10 minutes. Continuing to battle, the Blue and Gold chipped away in the second, getting the score to 40-36 at halftime.
 
WU nearly climbed the ladder all the way as the Pride scored the first basket of the second half on a layup by Rimmer to make it 40-38. Albright responded, extending the lead back to 58-47 and maintained the edge for the remainder of the contest.

Widener is back in play on Saturday, when it hosts Hood in a MAC Commonwealth matchup. Tipoff from the Schwartz Center is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
