GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Five different players scored as the Widener University women's soccer team topped the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins 5-1 in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon.
The Pride opened the scoring in the seventh minute as
Bella Abrams struck lower left for the 1-0 lead. Widener extended the edge to 2-0 in the 38th as
Natalie Worth sent a ball to
Abby Fenton, who buried the shot lower right.
After the Griffins posted a goal in the 67th minute to cut the lead in half,
Emily Schall answered right back to make it 3-1.
Alyssa Dionisio and
Ava Bratina also scored late as the Blue and Gold pulled away.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The goal was the third of the year for Dionisio, the second for Schall and the first each for Abrams, Fenton, and Bratina.
- Widener had a 15-1 advantage in shots including 10-1 on target.
- The Pride also had a 10-1 lead in corner kicks.
