DALLAS, Pa. – The Widener University men's soccer team fired the first salvo, but was dealt a 3-1 setback in non-conference play at Misericordia on Saturday evening.
The Pride got off to a hot start as
Nick Brison netted the first goal of the contest in the 16th minute. It was his team-leading fourth goal of the year, putting him one off the career-high of five he set in 12 matches last season.
From there, Misericordia posted the equalizer in the 22nd minute and scored again shortly before halftime. A second half tally from the Cougars put the match out of reach.
Despite the result, Widener held a 9-7 edge in shots, including 604 on goal. The Blue and Gold also held a 5-4 mark in corners.
The Pride is back in action on Saturday, October 5 when it travels to Lycoming, opening MAC Commonwealth play. Match time from Williamsport, Pa. is slated for 3:30 p.m.
