ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Widener University men's soccer team scored early in the first half and extended the lead late as the Pride topped the Rosemont Ravens in its penultimate non-conference match 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
Noah Jefferies provided what looked like it could be the only offense in the match when he drilled a shot during the 11th minute into the top right corner. Late in the match, the Pride got some insurance as
DJ Reider posted his first goal of the season in the 80th minute.
Devon Santos netted his second of the year in the 89th, sealing the contest.
BY THE NUMBERS
- For Jefferies, the goal was his third of the year, tying for the team lead, and extending his career-high.
- The Blue and Gold held a 16-8 advantage in shots and had eight attempts on target as compared to one for Rosemont.
- It was the seventh win of the year for Widener, matching last season's total.
- With Reider finding the goal column, WU now has 13 players who have found the back of the net in 2019, the most since 14 players scored in 2007.
