Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

@Widener_Soccer Goes Toe-to-Toe with #14 Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Widener University men's soccer team faced off against the University of Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon, hanging tough with the #14 Eagles but dropping the match 1-0, with the goal coming on a penalty kick in the first half.

How it happened
John Warwick was the driving force for the Pride. The senior goalkeeper made two saves in the first half. UMW was granted a PK in the 23rd minute. Warwick guessed correctly on the shot, diving and getting his hands on the ball, but it trickled in just under his gloves, giving the Eagles the 1-0 edge.

The WU offense picked up in the second, generating four shots. Andrew Thomas and Josh Witte were able to get their shots on target. Warwick stopped five more scoring chances in the second half, keeping the Blue and Gold within striking distance. However, Widener could not find the back of the net and Mary Washington carried its lead until the final whistle.

Up next
