CHESTER, Pa. – Nick Brison provided two second half goals for the Widener University men's soccer team, leading the Pride to a 2-1 win against the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins on Saturday afternoon.

WU improved to 4-0 at home with the victory. Through six games for the Pride, 12 different players have scored a goal.

• Brison's goals were the first of his sophomore year, building upon an impressive freshman campaign where he scored a team-high five times.
• Noah Saba assisted on the first goal, giving the senior five points on the year.
• Peter O'Connor was the shot leader, firing off three, two of which were on goal.

How it happened
Widener generated three shots in the first half while holding Gwynedd Mercy to zero. The lack of offense resulted in a scoreless draw at the intermission.

Halftime adjustments were noticed quickly. Brison broke through in the 49th minute, firing a shot from the right side after receiving the pass from Saba. Almost exactly 10 minutes later, Brison used his head on a rebounded save, guiding the ball into the net and increasing the margin to two. A Griffin goal in the 64th minute created a scare, but the Pride defense held strong for the remainder of the match, carrying its 2-1 lead until the final whistle.
