Schlosser Scores Twice, Guiding @WidenerFHockey to a 3-0 Win Over Immaculata

CHESTER, Pa. Jesse Schlosser found the back of the cage twice for the Widener University field hockey team, helping the Pride take a 3-0 win over the Immaculata Mighty Macs on Wednesday night.

The victory was WU's fourth of the year, making it the best start to a season for the program since 2007.

The score propelled Widener to the top of the MAC Commonwealth in goals, giving the Pride 14 on the young season.

Highlights
  • Schlosser's goals marked her third and fourth of 2019. Margaret Howe-Consiglio was credited with the assist on the first one.
  • Jackie Daniels displayed a phenomenal individual effort for the Pride's second goal, giving her three for the year.
  • Widener forced nine penalty corners.
  • Sabrina Roberto and Victoria Byrne split time in the cage, stopping two shots along the way.
  • The Blue and Gold defense held the Mighty Macs to just five shots.
How it happened
Schlosser recorded the first two shots of the contest, capitalizing on her second attempt in the seventh minute. Howe-Consiglio attacked from right side, finding Schlosser in the middle who hit a one-timer in the lower left corner of the cage. A little over two minutes into the second quarter, Daniels doubled the margin. The junior sprinted up the left side of the field with the ball on her stick, beating multiple defenders, and fired off a shot past the Immaculata goalie. The Pride carried its two goal advantage into the intermission.

Schlosser created a three goal deficit in the third quarter, scoring on the Pride's second shot after the break. Staunch defense from Widener limited scoring chances the rest of the way for Immaculata. The fourth quarter saw no goals, solidifying the final score.
