CHESTER, Pa. – Seniors
Devan Rimmer and
Madison Ireland each etched their names further into the record books as the Widener University women's basketball team downed Lebanon Valley 84-51 in its first MAC Commonwealth contest of the season on Wednesday night.

"We had a nice distribution of the ball today and it showed in our balanced scoring," said head coach
Alisa Kintner. "I think we had a good team effort on both the offensive and defensive end of the court which we need to continue going forward. Devan really did a nice job of hitting open shots."
HIGHLIGHTS
- Rimmer dropped a season-high 24 points, connecting on 9-of-12 shots overall and 6-for-8 from beyond the arc. She now has 1,289 points in her career and moved into seventh place on the Widener all-time scoring list.
- Ireland posted a double-double behind 11 points and a career-high 13 assists. It was the eighth game of her tenure with 10 or more assists in a contest.
- Erin Phelan netted 10 on 4-for-4 shooting.
- Kyra Schenk led the Pride in rebounding with 10 to go along with eight points.
- Helena Salmon connected on a trio of treys, scoring nine.
- In the game, Widener shot a blistering 56.1 percent (32-of-57) including 9-for-13 in the third quarter.
- The Pride also added 25 assists on its 32 made buckets.
- WU also connected well from deep, hitting 12-of-21 shots from three-point range.
- 12 different players scored for Widener.
- Defensively, the Blue and Gold forced 21 turnovers and limited LVC to 32.7 percent shooting.
- The Pride had a season-high 14 steals, three each coming from Rimmer, Ireland, and Jordan D'Ambrosio.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After the Dutchmen scored the first two points of the game, Widener went on a 13-0 run that lasted five minutes, pulling out to a 13-2 edge before leading 15-5 at the end of the first. The Pride maintained a double digit lead throughout the second stanza and took a 37-22 lead into halftime.

WU put the game away in the third period, hitting more than 69 percent of its shots, outscoring LVC 22-9 in the frame. An even fourth quarter cemented the final score.
