CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University men's soccer team secured its first postseason victory since 2015, defeating the Brevard College Tornados 1-0 in the first round of the ECAC Championships on Saturday night.
With the win, the Pride advanced to the quarterfinals to be played tomorrow at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium at noon against the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights.

How it happened
Physical early on, both team picked up yellow cards within first 22 minutes. The Pride defense limited the Tornados to two shots across the final 20 minutes of the opening half. The Brevard keeper made eight saves, keeping the game level at zero heading into the intermission.
Brevard outshot 5-4 in the second before Widener opened the scoring.
Noah Jefferies drew a foul in the Tornados' box. Saba punched home the PK in 63rd minute. The opposition picked up the pressure, forcing the WU defense to lock all windows and doors. The back line did not disappoint, holding the Tornados scoreless for the remainder of the night and sealing the W.
