Brison Scores Twice as @Widener_Soccer Grabs #MACsoccer Win at Albright

READING, Pa.Nick Brison scored twice, propelling the Widener University men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over MAC Commonwealth opponent Albright on Tuesday night.

The win was the Pride's eighth of the season, surpassing its win-total from 2018.

Highlights
  • Brison's goals were his fifth and sixth of the season, making him the third leading scorer in the MAC Commonwealth.
  • Noah Saba notched a penalty kick goal and his second assist of the year.
  • John Warwick, Jereon Kortekaas, and Jaelin Farrell combined for three saves.
  • The Pride outshot the Lions 14-6.

How it happened
Saba and Brison connected for the first goal just 24 seconds into the match. Peter O'Connor played a ball down the right side of the field for Saba. Saba sent a low cross through the box, finding the foot of Brison and establishing the very early lead. WU fired off two more shots before doubling its advantage. Andrew Thomas was the facilitator on the Pride's second goal and Widener went into the half with a two-goal edge.

Albright narrowed the deficit to one on a penalty kick in the 57th minute. Looking for insurance, Widener worked the ball into the Lions zone, eventually forcing a PK just before the 60-minute mark. Saba stepped up to take it, burying his third penalty goal of the season in as many opportunities. The Blue and Gold defense held the Lions to one shot for the remainder of the match, securing the win.
