@WidenerFHockey Grabs Huge #MACfh Win on Senior Day

CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University field hockey team celebrated its five seniors prior to its matchup against Arcadia on Saturday afternoon. The Pride went on to defeat the Knights 1-0 in the final home game of the year, setting a new program record for wins in a season with 14.

Highlights
  • Madi Radnoff provided the lone goal of the contest with three minutes remaining in regulation. It marked her eighth of the season, matching her total from last year.
  • Widener outshot Arcadia 15-6.
  • WU had five penalty corners to the Knights' three.

  • Sabrina Roberto made three saves in the shutout effort.
How it happened
Lexie Eberly had a scoring chance saved by an Arcadia defender in the second minute of action to keep the game even. It was knotted at zero heading into the second quarter. The physicality increased in the second, resulting in four cards between the teams. Roberto had two big stops, maintaining the scoreless draw at the intermission.

Team struggled to generate offense in the third, combining for five shots. In the fourth quarter, with the ball in the Knights zone, Radnoff fired a reverse strike, finding the back of the cage in the 56th minute. The Blue and Gold held on to the lead until the final whistle, grabbing its third conference win of 2019.
