GLENSIDE, Pa. – Consistent downpour caused unfriendly playing conditions as the Widener University men's soccer team took on Arcadia on Tuesday night. The Pride went toe-to-toe with the Knights but fell 1-0 on a goal scored with two seconds remaining in regulation.
How it happened
The Pride came out of the opening tap aggressively, forcing three corners and firing off three shots in the first five minutes of action.
John Warwick tallied three saves before halftime. WU outshot the Knights 8-7 through the first 45 minutes.
Still scoreless after the break, both defenses stayed solid, allowing one shot each across a 10-minute span. Widener controlled possession during the closing 10 minutes of play. The Blue and Gold had shots by
Nick Brison,
Shea Morgan,
Noah Saba, and
Liam Friel blocked or saved. The Knights cleared their zone in the last minute, moved the ball up the field and were rewarded a corner kick. They scored shortly after, leaving two seconds on the clock and cementing the match.
