Holden Career-High Leads Four @WidenerMBB Players at Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. Pat Holden came off the bench to score a career-high15 points and lead four players in double figures, but the Widener University men's basketball team fell to the Stevenson Mustangs 101-71 in a MAC Commonwealth matchup on Saturday afternoon.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Holden posted his total on the strength of 3-for-6 from beyond the arc and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
  • Elijah Boyd netted 11 and came up one rebound shy of a double-double. He also added a steal and a block.
  • Jared Peters and Ryan McMahon scored 10 each. McMahon led the team with four assists and did not commit a turnover.
  • Jalen Howard swatted three shots for the Blue and Gold.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After the Mustangs scored the first two points of the game, back-to-back baskets by Peters and McMahon gave Widener a brief lead at 4-2.
  • Stevenson responded with an extended run to take a 29-10 lead nine minutes into the contest.
  • The Pride recovered and was able to slice the deficit to 44-33 as Boyd netted the final four points of the half for WU.
  • Holden opened the second half for the Blue and Gold with a trey, cutting the SU advantage to single digits. After trading baskets for the next few minutes, a layup by Connor Laverty at the 15:36 mark, pulled the Pride to 56-50. From there, the Mustangs pulled away throughout the remainder of the second half.
