CHESTER, Pa. –
Andrew Thomas scored his first goal of the season, courtesy of an
Adam Bailey free kick, but the Widener University men's soccer team dropped its home opener to Swarthmore by a score of 3-1.
The Pride outshot the Garnet in the first half, opening up some terrific scoring chances, but was unsuccessful in netting the opportunities.
Swarthmore went into the half with a 1-0 lead. Two goals in the 60th minute and 66th minute cemented its victory. Thomas was able capitalize on well-designed set piece in the 79th minute.
Up next for Pride, it hosts Desales University on Saturday, September 8 at 7:00 p.m.
