CHESTER, Pa. –
Nick Brison scored in spectacular fashion in the 88th minute, sealing a 3-2 victory for the Widener University men's soccer team on Saturday night against the Bulldogs of DeSales University.
After trailing for the majority of the first half, Widener was able to even the score at one, before the 40 minute mark. As halftime was approaching, the Pride took a 2-1 with 45 seconds left on the clock.
23 minutes into the second half, DeSales tied the game at two. Both teams played aggressively for the remainder of the half, and overtime seemed likely, until
Nick Brison unleashed a rocket of a shot from about 25 yards out, placing the ball in the upper left panel of the opposing team's net.
First Half Summary
- DJ Reider scored his first goal of the season at the 39:06 minute mark to even it up.
- Peter O'Connor received a pass from Devon Santos and curled it over the DeSales keeper to give the Pride a lead just before the half.
Second Half Summary
- DeSales scored in the 68th minute, making it 2-2.
- With exactly one minute and 34 seconds left in regulation, Brison received the ball on the right side of the field, settled it, took a few dribbles, and let it rip for an epic goal, which was rightfully celebrated by the entire team.
