CHESTER, Pa. – Alyssa Dionisio scored her first goal of the season, but the Widener University women's soccer team came up short in a nail-biter against Pfeiffer on Sunday afternoon.

Both defenses did not budge in the first half, resulting in a scoreless 45 minutes. The Pride back line held Pfeiffer to only two shots before the intermission.
The offense turned it up a notch after the break. Dionisio provided Widener's first goal of its 2018 campaign in the 59th minute, with a beautifully placed ball in the upper left corner. The Pride attack was strong in the second half, creating eight shots. Pfeiffer tied the match at 1-1 in the 66th minute, and eventually took and maintained the lead in the 82nd minute, making it a final score of 2-1.

Delaney Sabath produced some incredible saves throughout the contest, four of them coming in the second half of play.

For its next match, the Widener Pride will travel to Center Valley, Pennsylvania to face off against Desales University on Saturday, September 8.
