CHESTER, Pa. – Paced by nine kills and eight digs from
Nicole Dorman, the Widener University women's volleyball team got back on the winning track with a 3-0 win in a MAC Commonwealth game against Albright on Wednesday evening.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Dorman's nine kills led the Pride. She also hit .316 for the match and had a pair of aces.
- Shelby Motz had eight kills.
- Ashley McAfee led the Pride with 10 digs. Sydney Nichols posted 15 assists.
- As a team, WU hit .349.
FIRST SET NOTES (25-9)
- Widener jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead in the opening set before the Lions pulled back to 7-6.
- After trading points, the Pride jumped on a 17-2 run to close the set that included a 10-0 sprint on McAfee's serve.
- The Blue and Gold posted a .357 hitting percentage for the set, led by four kills from Motz and three from Hollie Jones, who each hit .375 in the frame.
SECOND SET NOTES (25-9)
- WU started well as after taking an early 5-3 lead, the Pride used a 13-3 spurt to take an 18-5 edge.
- Albright hung in the set scoring four of the next five points before the Blue and Gold closed it out.
- Dorman had a big set with five kills, four digs, and a .714 hitting percentage.
THIRD SET NOTES (25-19)
- After the Lions scored the first point of the set, Widener methodically built its lead and maintained throughout the set.
- Kelsey Lee posted three kills on three swings in the frame.
- McAfee posted seven digs.
