CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University field hockey team locked horns with the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins in a defensive battle on Tuesday night before the Pride was upended 1-0 on a late goal.
The teams were scoreless through more than 50 minutes of play before the Griffins broke through on a shot from the top of the arc.
Sabrina Roberto helped keep the game close for the Pride making three saves.
Jackie Daniels had a pair of shots on goal.
Widener has a quick turnaround for its next game, traveling to Immaculata on Thursday, September 13. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
