CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After a close opening 30 minutes, the Widener University men's lacrosse team saw the DeSales Bulldogs break open the contest in the second half as the Pride was upended by DeSales 8-2 on Saturday afternoon.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Brady Franks and Gavin Kirkwood each scored for Widener. It marked the fourth game in a row each one has scored.
- Anthony Paone led the Pride with five ground balls while winning eight of 11 faceoffs.
- The Blue and Gold held a 33-26 edge in ground balls and held the Bulldogs to just 1-for-9 in man-up situations.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After DeSales scored the only two goals of the first, Franks got Widener on the board late in the second quarter, finding the back of the net at the 5:35 mark.
- The Bulldogs tallied midway through the third period to take a 3-1 lead and then scored right at the buzzer to end the period. Riding the momentum of the fourth goal, they went on to score three more in a row, opening a 7-1 lead.
- Kirkwood put the Pride back on the board with his fifth goal of the season with four minutes to go in the game.
