Kyra Schenk posted nine points and eight rebounds, but the Widener University women's basketball team fell to the Arcadia Knights in a MAC Commonwealth matchup on Tuesday evening.

Madison Ireland and
Emma Gardy also made solid contributions for the Pride, with Ireland putting up five each in points, rebounds, and assists. Gardy scored seven on 3-for-4 shooting.

Widener started the game well, scoring the first four points before going cold from the floor. Arcadia was slow to start, but picked up the pace, tying the game at 6-6 late in the first. The Knights went on a 13-6 run to take a 19-12 lead midway through the second quarter, but Widener responded, using a 10-2 run of its own to knot the game at 22-22 before Arcadia took a 26-22 lead into halftime.

The Pride got off to a slow start in the second as the Knights took advantage, outscoring Widener 19-6 in the third period. The Blue and Gold rallied midway through the final stanza, cutting the edge to 53-42 thanks to a 12-2 run before the final buzzer.

Prior to the game, the two teams held a ceremonial opening tip with the ball being tossed by women's basketball alum Stephanie (Bixby) Gaffney. All proceeds from the game went to Gaffney in her battle against breast cancer.

Widener returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 17 when it celebrates Senior Day against Alvernia. Tipoff from the Schwartz Center is slated for 1:00 p.m.
