Madison Ireland scored a game-high 20 points as the Widener University women's basketball team closed the season with a 58-53 win against the Alvernia Golden Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams got off to slow starts as Alvernia held a 11-9 led after the opening period. The scoring picked up in the second quarter, but the game stayed tight as neither squad held more than a four point lead, which was owned by Widener at 26-22. The Golden Wolves scored five in a row to take a one point lead, but Gardy connected on a free throw to send the game into intermission tied at 27-27.

Alvernia led for the majority of the third quarter, pulling out to a 37-33 advantage three minutes in. Widener went on a 9-0 run during the next 4:52, opening a 42-37 lead at the end of three. The Golden Wolves rallied and the beginning of the fourth was a seesaw battle. Alvernia held a 49-48 lead before an 8-0 run by the Pride put the game away.
