WESTMINSTER, Md. – It was a collective effort for the Widener University women's basketball team as 13 different players scored to lead the Pride to victory over Ferrum College by a score of 74-49.
Widener led the entire game, holding a 19-point advantage at the end of the first half. Although Ferrum won the third quarter, WU was still able to hold them off. In the final quarter, the Blue and Gold outscored its opponent to 23-19 to solidify its fourth straight victory.
This is the first time the Widener women's basketball team has started a season with four wins in a row since 2012-13.
Devan Rimmer was named to the McDaniel Tip-Off Classic Presented by Carefirst Bluecross Blue Shield All-Classic Team.
By The Numbers:
- Rimmer led all scorers with 17. She shot 50 percent from the field and went two-of-four from beyond the arc
- Kyra Schenk was the second Pride player who finished in double figures. The sophomore notched 10 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks
- Emma Gardy had nine points, shooting 75 percent from three-point range
- Tatiana Pleasant got seven points and nine boards
- Madison Ireland continued to show her impressive passing abilities. She has six dimes
- The reserves accounted for 40 of WU's 74 points
- Once again, the Pride was fantastic from the free-throw line, going 21-26
- As unit, Widener secured 53 boards
- 41.2 percent from three was Widener's best shooting performance of the year
