GALLOWAY, N.J. – Behind 22 kills from
Nicole Dorman and a pair of double-doubles, the Widener University women's volleyball team downed NYU 3-2 to split a tri-match at Stockton University on Saturday afternoon. The Pride fell to the host Osprey 3-0 earlier in the day.
NOTES VS. STOCKTON(16-25, 24-26, 17-25)
- Dorman led the Pride with six kills in the match.
- Sydney Nichols topped the team with 14 assists and three aces.
- Ashley McAfee had 12 digs.
- Widener's best hitting set came in the second, when it forced extra points, hitting .135.
NOTES VS. NYU (25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-12)
- Dorman's 22 kills were a season-high. She also had 13 digs for her fourth double-double of the year.
- Shelby Motz had a personal best 13 kills and 13 digs for her second double-double of the season, while hitting .313. She also posted a team-high five aces.
- McAfee led WU with a career-high 27 digs.
- Nichols netted a season-best 32 assists.
- After the Pride opened a 3-0 lead in the deciding set, NYU battled back to take a 4-3 lead. The Blue and Gold regained control and went up 14-10 before claiming the set.
- The win was Widener's first in a five-set match this season and the first since back-to-back victories against Immaculata and Neumann on October 12 and 14, 2017.
