CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University women's soccer team faced off against Albright College on Wednesday night, coming away with one point in a 1-1 draw in double overtime.
After a scoreless 42 minutes, the Lions broke through first and carried a 1-0 into the intermission. The Pride tied the match in the 57th minute with a goal from
Alyssa Dionisio who received a through ball over the top of the defense from Alex Polon. Both defenses remained strong the rest of the night, cementing the draw.
With Wednesday's result, Widener clinched a spot in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. WU's final match is Saturday, October 27 against Stevenson at 7:30 p.m. The site is Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium. A Widener win and Albright loss in the last week of the season would bump the Pride up into the third seed for the tournament.
