CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches to wrap its non-conference schedule opening with a victory against Delaware Valley before falling to Goucher on Saturday.
NOTES VS. DEL VAL (25-11, 25-12, 25-10)
- Nicole Dorman led the Pride with nine kills and hit .500 for the match.
- Ashley McAfee topped the team with 10 digs.
- Sydney Nichols had 17 assists and Maddie Keller added 12.
- Widener hit a season-high .410 in the match (35 kills, 10 errors, 61 attacks) and never attacked at less than a .333 clip in any set.
- The Pride posted 11 aces, the eighth time this season it was in double-figures. Keller led the way with four, Dorman had three, and Shelby Motz recorded two.
NOTES VS. GOUCHER (17-25, 25-14, 22-25, 25-23, 15-12)
- Dorman had a big game, connecting for 21 kills and just three errors, hitting .419. She also added nine digs.
- McAfee posted 22 digs in the match, giving her 998 in her career.
- Nichols recorded 31 assists in the match, one off her season-high.
- Widener hit .234 in the match including .333 in the second set.

The Pride is back in action on Tuesday, October 23 when it takes on Hood in a MAC Commonwealth battle. Opening serve from Frederick, Md. is slated for 7:00 p.m.
