CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University field hockey team celebrated senior day and homecoming weekend in style, defeating Hood College 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The seven goals are the most by Widener since its 7-1 victory over Immaculata during the 2017 season. Sam Scoma scored four times, with three of her goals coming in the first 13 minutes of the match. Jesse Schlosser netted a goal in each half. Gianna Perna contributed to the attack with her second goal of the season and two assists. The Pride defense held Hood to zero shots all afternoon.

First Half Summary:

• In the fifth minute, Perna took the ball up the right side of the field and crossed it for Scoma, who buried it low past the Blazer keeper
• Scoma struck again, scoring off a rebound from a saved shot
• Scoma got her hatrick at the 12:42 mark, capitalizing on another rebounded save
• Schlosser added Widener's fourth goal in the 43rd minute, curtesy of a Madi Radnoff corner

Second Half Summary:

• Schlosser scored her second goal in the 60th minute, coming from a cross off the stick of Gianna Perna from the left side of the field
• Three minutes later, Perna got in on the scoring
• Scoma scored Widener's seventh and final goal in the 67th minute
