GLASSBORO, N.J. —
Nicole Dorman had a team high 17 kills, but the Widener University women's volleyball team fell to Rowan, 3-2, in the opening match of the Rowan Invitational Friday afternoon.
KEY PLAYERS:
- Dorman led the Blue and Gold with 17 kills and 22 digs
- Claire Kaufman had 12 kills and hit .3885 for Widener.
- Carly Histing, Kelsey Lee, and Natalie Winn had 10 kills each with Winn hitting .333.
- The Pride had a season-high 14 blocks in the match.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The match was tied three times, until Rowan finally pulled away with the win.
- Widener had 14 kills.
- As a team, the Pride hit .294 for the first set.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Pride was down 14-13 midway through the set before an error tied the score.
- A kill from Nicole Dorman then put the Pride ahead 15-14 causing Rowan to take a time-out.
- Widener came out strong and tallied on two more points to give them a lead of three.
- Rowan attempted to fight back, however, Widener held the Profs to 19 as they scored five more in a row to win the set.
- As a team, Widener had four aces in the second set.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Widener had 16 kills in comparison to Rowan's 13.
- The Pride found itself up early, 4-1, but Rowan battled back quickly tying the score 8-8.
- The set was tied three more times until Rowan pulled away for good.
- Dorman led Widener with three kills and eight digs.
FOURTH SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- As a team, Widener hit .367 in the fourth set.
- Kaufman let the Pride with four kills and hit 1.000.
FIFTH SET HIGH LIGHTS:
- The Pride was down 14-10, however, they tallied three points in a row to make it a one-point difference until Rowan scored the final point.
- Widener had six kills. Dorman was responsible for three.
