CHESTER, Pa. –
Nicole Dorman had 14 kills and seven digs, but the Widener women's volleyball team was upended in a tight match by the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen 25-20, 25-22, 25-20 in a MAC Commonwealth contest on Wednesday night.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Pride found itself down 17-10 midway through the set before Sydney Nichols took over on serve following a timeout. The Blue and Gold proceeded to rip off six points in a row and eight of nine to tie things at 18-18.
- Widener had five blocks in the set.
- Dorman led the way with five kills and three digs.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Blue and Gold jumped out to an early 9-7 lead on a kill by Dorman. Natalie Winn, Claire Kaufman, and Kelsey Lee helped to build the lead with a kill each.
- Lebanon Valley battled back, eventually taking a 21-17 lead before the Pride tied it up again, thanks in part to back-to-back aces from Liz Kwon.
- As a team, Widener hit .233 for the set with Kaufman recording three kills and Kayla Ewart coming up with five digs.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Pride found itself down early 10-3 and trailed 18-12 before scoring four straight, the last two on kills from Carly Histing to make it 18-16.
- Dorman had six kills in the set and Histing recorded three.
- Ashley McAfee recorded five assists in the frame.
UP NEXT
Widener makes the short trip to Glassboro, N.J. to compete in the Rowan Invitational on Sept. 8-9. On the first day of the event, the Pride takes on the host Profs and Gettysburg before facing Dickinson and Keystone on Saturday.Â
