Dorman Records 1,000th Career Kill as Pride Downs Albright

READING, Pa. – Nicole Dorman had a season-high 21 kills including the 1,000th of her career as the Widener University women's volleyball team picked up its first MAC Commonwealth win of the season, downing the Albright Lions 3-1 on Wednesday night by scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 25-22.
 
KEY PLAYERS
  • Dorman notched her seventh double-double of the season adding 12 digs to her 21 kills.
  • Sydney Nichols recorded a season-best 41 assists.
  • Ashley McAfee led four Widener players with 10 or more digs, totaling 21. Liz Kwon had 13 while Dorman and Kayla Ewart each recorded 12.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS
  • The opening game was tight throughout as neither team held more than a three point lead for the first half. With Albright up 16-15, the Pride ripped off six points in a row to take the lead in the set for good.
  • Dorman led the Blue and Gold with six kills and a .235 hitting percentage.
  • Kelsey Lee had seven digs while McAfee had six.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS
  • Albright raced out to a 9-3 lead before Widener pulled back to two points with a 5-1 run.
  • The Pride continued to chip away eventually slicing the edge to 23-22 before the Lions went on to take the final two points.
  • Claire Kaufman had two kills and two blocks in the set.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Pride raced out to a 16-8 lead to open the set.
  • Widener hit .237 for the frame after hitting .174 in the first two sets combined.
  • Dorman and Ewart each had four kills.
FOURTH SET HIGHLIGHTS
  • After an even opening to the set through the first 18 points, the Lions scored four in a row to take a 13-9 lead.
  • Widener came back with a 10-3 run to open up a 19-16 advantage and maintained the lead to the finish.
  • Dorman swung down seven kills, the fifth of which was the 1,000th of her career.
UP NEXT
The Pride is off until Tuesday, Sept. 26 when it hosts Alvernia. Opening serve from the Schwartz Athletic Center is set for 7:00 p.m.
