CHESTER, Pa. – Senior John Colbert had back-to-back goals to help push the Widener University men's soccer team over the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins 5-1 on Saturday evening at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Logan Musselman started the scoring off early for the Pride in the seventh minute, making room for himself in the box to put the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net.
• Mac Schailey sent a through ball into the box that found the end of Kevin McKenna's foot for the Pride's second goal in the 36th minute.
• After Noah Saba drew a foul in the box, Colbert stepped up with composure and put away a penalty kick with a hard strike on the ground to the right corner.
• Colbert added another tally five minutes later after juggling the ball around the keeper to find space and fire the ball into the goal. Musselman was credited with the assist with a cross into the box from the right side of the field.
• GMU was able to put one away in the 85th minute, however, Noah Jefferies answered back three minutes later after receiving a through ball from Peter O'Connor that slipped through two defenders and into the box.

BY THE NUMBERS

• Widener out shot Gwynedd Mercy 11-0 in the first half, maintaining full control of the game and 25-2 overall.
• Danny Thompson made one save between the pipes for the Pride while Kace Peters turned away four shots in the losing effort.
