ASTON, Pa. – The Widener University women's volleyball team got play in the Knights Invitational off to a good start with a pair of 3-1 wins against Catholic and Rutgers-Camden on Friday. The Pride downed the Cardinals 25-16, 21-25, 25-21, 25-21 and topped the Scarlet Raptors 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 25-17.
HIGHLIGHTS VS. CATHOLIC
- Nicole Dorman led the Pride with 12 kills and did not commit an error in 37 attacks, leading to a .324 hitting percentage.
- Sydney Nichols had a season-high 31 assists and 10 kills for her third double-double of the season.
- Ashley McAfee led Widener with 23 digs in the match, recording a season-high.
- As a team, the Blue and Gold had 37 kills and hit .204.
HIGHLIGHTS VS. RUTGERS-CAMDEN
- Dorman led a balanced Widener attack with 11 kills while Kelsey Lee had 10 and Claire Kaufman recorded eight.
- Liz Kwon topped the Pride with 36 assists and 11 digs.
- The Blue and Gold hit a blistering .391 in the opening set victory and .215 for the match overall.

Widener continues play in the Invitational with a match against Haverford at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16. The team's second opponent of the day will be determined following morning matches and final seedings in both pools are determined.
