DOVER, Del. – The Widener University women's volleyball team hit .272 overall as the Pride swept the Wesley Wolverines 3-0 by scores of 25-12, 25-21, and 25-17 on Wednesday night.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Widener never hit below .250 in any set including a high of .321 in the opener.
- Nicole Dorman led the Pride with 15 kills and 13 digs while also recording four blocks and three service aces, all while hitting .333.
- Claire Kaufman hit a blistering .462 with seven kills and only one error in 13 total attacks.
- Liz Kwon paced the Blue and Gold with 33 assists. Ashley McAfee contributed with 12 digs.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS
- Widener raced out to a 5-0 lead before Wesley battled back to knot the set at 7-7. From there, the Pride ran off eight points in a row, opening up a 15-7 advantage before winning the set 25-12.
- Dorman had five of her kills in the opening set and three of her four blocks.
- As a team, the Blue and Gold hit .321 for the set.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS
- Neither team held more than a two point lead until late in the set when Widener started to pull away. Leading 18-17, the Pride went on a 4-1 run to take a 22-18 edge. The Wolverines fought back, closing to 22-21 before Widener scored the final three points to claim the second.
- Five different players notched two or more kills in the set. Dorman led the way with four while Kaufman, Carly Histing, Kelsey Lee, and Natalie Winn had two each.
- Kwon had four of her eight digs in the second set.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS
- Widener found itself trailing for the first time in the match as Wesley held an 11-9 lead. The Pride responded, ripping off nine of the next 11 points to go up 18-13, winning the set 25-17.
- Dorman and Kaufman combined for nine kills and no errors, hitting a combined .450 for the set.

Widener makes the short trip to Neumann University where it will compete in the Knights Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16. On Friday, the Pride takes on Catholic at 4:00 p.m. and Rutgers-Camden at 6:00 p.m.
